The hydrocolloids transform into a gel when in contact with wound exudate and form a moist environment which has a stimulating effect on granulation and epithelialization. A thinner hydrocolloid dressing with lower absorption capacity is used in preference during the epithelialization stage. Hydrocoll Sacral is used for the treatment of decubital ulcers in the sacral region. Also, Hydrocoll Concave is designed for the treatment on heel and elbow; the special shape makes it possible that with a few manipulations, Hydrocoll concave can be formed into a \" pocket \" into which the corresponding body parts will fit. Hydrocoll is suitable for  moist wound treatment of clinically non-infected, slightly to moderately exudating wounds, especially in wounds with poor healing tendency and long lasting formation of granulation, e.g. in leg ulcers or decubitus or 2nd degree burns.
