The Freka® EasyIn ENFit is a double-lumen polyurethane nasojejunal feeding tube designed for intestinal enteral feeding and gastric decompression/drainage. It is intended for use in critically ill patients where early intestinal feeding is required while gastric decompression is also needed.

The system consists of a CH/FR 8 intestinal feeding tube measuring 270 cm and a CH/FR 16 gastric tube measuring 100 cm. The intestinal tube is designed for placement through the working channel of an endoscope with a minimum diameter of 2.8 mm and features an ENFit™ connector for connection to compatible enteral feeding sets.

The intestinal tube is manufactured from tissue-compatible, radiopaque polyurethane and contains barium sulphate to support radiological visibility. It features a rounded distal opening, four lateral outlet openings and interval markings every 1 cm. The gastric tube features a large lumen for gastric decompression, a radiopaque tip, an end opening and five lateral outlet openings to facilitate gastric drainage.

The two tubes can be positioned independently, allowing the intestinal tube to remain in place while the gastric tube is positioned as required. A Freka Click Adapter is used to securely connect the intestinal and gastric tubes. The gastric lumen is fitted with a Y-connector and a funnel connection with a closure cap.

The Freka® EasyIn is supplied with accessories intended to support tube placement, lubrication, connection and fixation. The set includes MCT oil ampoules for lubrication, a blue CH 15 re-routing catheter measuring 35 cm, a Freka® Connect ENFit™/ProNeo 10 mL, and a three-part tube fixation plaster.

The tube is latex-free, PVC-free and DEHP-free. However, Fresenius Kabi specifies that the supplied re-routing catheter is made from PVC and DEHP and is disposed of after tube placement. Therefore, the PVC- and DEHP-free statement applies to the EasyIn tube itself and not to every component supplied in the pack.
