Superior absorption due to unique 3D foam
When in contact with exudate the unique 3D foam structure of Biatain ® Silicone conforms closely to the wound bed for superior absorption - even under compression (3). The unique 3D foam structure absorbs the exudate vertically and together with the lock-away layer it locks away the fluid within its structure, still leaving the wound moist for optimal wound healing conditions. The fluid handling properties of Biatain® Silicone ensure control of exudate thus minimising risk of leakage and maceration.

Gentle and secure fit
The silicone adhesive layer provides a secure fit to keep the dressing in place while ensuring minimal pain upon removal (1,2). The soft and flexible design of Biatain® Silicone ensures a close fit to wound and body, and the foam pad at skin level makes Biatain® Silicone comfortable to wear – even under compression (2).

Intuitive use
Biatain® Silicone has a 3-piece non-touch opening for an easy and aseptic application.

Fewer dressing changes
Due to superior absorption, you can experience up to 50% reduction in dressing changes (3,4).

Product composition
Biatain® Silicone is a soft and conformable polyurethane foam dressing with a semi-permeable, bacteria and waterproof top film, a lock-away layer and a soft silicone adhesive layer.

Usage
Biatain® Silicone is indicated for a wide range of exuding chronic and acute wounds such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, non-infected diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites, post-operative wounds and traumatic wounds (e.g. skin abrasions, skin tears, cuts). It can be used in combination with compression therapy and may be left in place for up to 7 days.

What are the Biatain foam types?

Biatain foam is a type of wound dressing produced by Coloplast. The foam is made from a soft and absorbent material that is designed to provide cushioning, absorb excess moisture, and promote healing. Biatain foam dressings come in several different types, including:

  • Biatain Soft: A soft and flexible foam dressing that is designed to conform to the contours of the body and provide comfortable protection.
  • Biatain Ag: An antimicrobial foam dressing that contains silver to help prevent the growth of bacteria in the wound.
  • Biatain Ibu: A foam dressing that is impregnated with ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), to help manage pain and reduce inflammation.
  • Biatain Silicone: A foam dressing that is coated with a layer of silicone to help reduce friction and shear on the wound and surrounding skin.

The choice of Biatain foam dressing will depend on the specific needs of the patient, including the type and severity of the wound, any underlying conditions, and the individual's response to different types of dressings.

What is Biatain Alginate used for?

Biatain Alginate is a type of wound dressing produced by Coloplast that is made from alginate, a natural polymer derived from seaweed. Alginate dressings are commonly used in the management of exuding wounds, such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, and surgical wounds.

Biatain Alginate dressings are designed to provide a moist wound environment that is believed to be beneficial for wound healing. The alginate fibers absorb exudate and form a gel-like matrix that helps to maintain a moist environment in the wound. This moist environment can help to reduce pain, promote tissue granulation, and prevent the formation of scar tissue.

In addition, the alginate fibers in Biatain Alginate dressings can help to prevent the wound from drying out, which can be particularly beneficial for wounds that are slow to heal or prone to infection. Biatain Alginate dressings can also be used in conjunction with other wound care products, such as wound gels and creams, to provide additional support for the healing process.

Great. My skin tears very easily. I use only these dressing. Have 2 sizes. So soft and gentle for my skin. I always carry one in my purse - but several times they have been needed for others. I need to by more because of this.
