Medical Supplies for NDIS Participants and Families
Medisa supports NDIS participants, families and authorised representatives—such as a family member, nominee or carer who is permitted to assist with an order—with product supply, itemised quotations, invoicing, delivery coordination and ongoing consumable orders across multiple healthcare categories.
Choose the pathway that matches your NDIS plan
The first step is to identify how your plan is managed. The pathway below explains who usually places or approves the order and what Medisa can prepare. Product funding still depends on your plan, circumstances and applicable NDIS requirements.
Buy directly from Medisa
You or an authorised representative can purchase directly from Medisa and manage the payment or claim according to your self-managed arrangements.
- Select the product or request a quotation.
- Place and pay for the order when you are ready to proceed.
- Receive an itemised invoice from Medisa.
- Keep the itemised invoice for your records and manage the payment or claim according to your self-managed arrangements.
Request a quote for your Plan Manager
Medisa can prepare the purchasing documents needed for review by your Plan Manager.
- Tell us which products and quantities you need.
- Receive an itemised quotation.
- Send it to your Plan Manager for review or approval.
- Medisa processes the order after the required confirmation is received.
Confirm the ordering pathway
NDIA-managed orders can involve specific provider and payment requirements. Contact Medisa before ordering so our team can check whether the requested supply can be processed through the applicable pathway.
- Send us the product details and participant information available.
- Our team checks the relevant provider, payment and ordering requirements.
- We explain what confirmation or information is still required.
- The order proceeds after the required pathway and confirmation are in place.
Common NDIS ordering scenarios
These examples show how the purchasing pathway may work in common situations. The exact steps can vary depending on the participant’s plan, the products requested and any confirmation required before supply.
Regular continence supply
A participant wants to purchase the same continence products used in previous orders.
Monthly enteral feeding products
A family needs an itemised quotation for products used by a plan-managed participant.
Wound care consumables
A participant or authorised representative contacts Medisa before placing the order.
What to prepare before contacting Medisa
You do not need to know every detail. Send whatever information you already have so our team can identify the correct product and pack configuration more efficiently.
How Medisa processes your enquiry and order
Whether you contact us directly or request a quotation, Medisa follows four practical stages to identify the product, confirm supply details and prepare the order.
Product details are checked
We review the product name, code, size, quantity and pack format to reduce ordering errors.
Availability and pricing are confirmed
Our team checks the available supply option and prepares an itemised quotation where required.
The required confirmation is received
Depending on how the plan is managed, confirmation may come from the participant, authorised representative or Plan Manager.
The order is processed and delivered
After confirmation, Medisa prepares the invoice, dispatches the products and retains clear references for future orders.
Support for participants, families and authorised representatives
Medical supply purchasing is often managed by more than one person. Medisa can work with the participant or with an authorised family member, nominee, carer, Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or provider contact.
One supplier relationship across multiple needs
Where a participant uses products from several healthcare categories, our team can help consolidate enquiries, quotations and ongoing supply through one Medisa relationship.

Many participants use the same consumable products regularly. Once the correct product, size, pack configuration and delivery details are established, Medisa can assist with future quotations and repeat orders.

- Delivery to the nominated home, provider or accommodation address

What if a product is unavailable?
Medisa can check availability, pack sizes and other supply options. Where a different product would involve a clinical decision, confirmation should come from the participant’s healthcare professional or another appropriate clinical contact.
What if funding is uncertain?
Medisa can provide product and purchasing documentation but cannot decide whether an item is funded. Confirm uncertain purchases with your Plan Manager, Support Coordinator, the NDIA or another appropriate plan contact before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Can NDIS participants buy directly from Medisa?
Yes. Medisa works directly with participants and with authorised representatives, such as a family member, nominee or carer permitted to assist with the order. The ordering and payment process depends on whether the plan is self-managed, plan-managed or NDIA-managed.
Does Medisa support self-managed participants?
Yes. Self-managed participants can order directly, request an itemised quotation and receive an invoice containing the relevant product and purchase information.
Can Medisa work with my Plan Manager?
Yes. Medisa can provide quotations and invoices, include participant and purchase order details, and coordinate the practical supply process with your Plan Manager.
Can a family member or carer order on my behalf?
Yes, where they are authorised to manage or assist with the participant’s purchasing arrangements. Our team may request the information needed to correctly prepare the order and documentation.
Can Medisa deliver products to my home?
Yes. Medisa delivers across Australia and can dispatch products to a nominated home or other approved delivery address.
Can I reorder products I use regularly?
Yes. Medisa can assist with repeat orders for ongoing consumables. It is helpful to retain the product name, item code, size and previous order details so the same configuration can be identified.
Does Medisa decide whether a product is funded by the NDIS?
No. Medisa supplies products and purchasing documentation but does not make funding, eligibility or claim approval decisions. When eligibility is unclear, confirmation should be obtained from the appropriate NDIS contact or plan representative before ordering.
What information should I send when requesting a quote?
Send any details you have, such as the product name, photo, supplier code, size, quantity or a previous invoice. These details help Medisa identify the correct item and pack configuration.
What happens after I receive a quotation?
The next step depends on how your plan is managed. A self-managed participant may proceed and pay directly, while a plan-managed participant generally sends the quotation to their Plan Manager. For an NDIA-managed plan, Medisa should first confirm the relevant provider, payment and ordering pathway before processing.
What happens if the product I use is unavailable?
Medisa can check supply availability, pack formats and other available options. Medisa does not make clinical substitution decisions, so a healthcare professional may need to confirm whether a different product is appropriate.
Do I need to know the NDIS support item number before contacting Medisa?
No. Contact Medisa with the product information you already have. Our team can assist with product identification and purchasing documentation, but Medisa does not determine the correct NDIS funding category or whether an item is claimable under a participant’s plan.
Can Medisa provide supporting product documents?
Where available from the manufacturer or supplier, Medisa can provide relevant product information or documentation. The type of evidence required for a funding decision depends on the participant’s circumstances and is not determined by Medisa.
Need help with an NDIS product order?
Contact Medisa with the products, quantities and delivery information you have available. Our team can assist with sourcing, quotations, invoicing and ongoing supply coordination across multiple healthcare and daily living product categories.
