Super Absorbent: - 60% more absorbent than standard thickness PolyMem dressings - Holds up to 10 times its own weight - Quickly absorbs moisture and wound fluid - Locks wound fluid inside the dressing, ina gel form, helping to reduce the risk of maceration - Saves time and money by reducing the number of dressing changes and extending the time between dressing changes
Flexible: - Soft and pliable - Conforms to wound shape
Non-Adherent: - Will not stick to the wound bed - Maintains integrity of healing tissue - Will not dehydrate the wound bed
Functional: - Automatically donates moisture or absorbs exudate, depending on the condition of the wound bed and fluid level in the dressing - Clinicians can add sterile water or saline to make a faster moisture donor or can allow the dressing to draw fluid to the site as it absorbs fluid into the dressing - Helps relieve wound pain, inflammation, edema and bruising while improving comfort - Reduce the spread of inflammation into surrounding uninjured tissues without interfering with the robust localized inflammatory response required for healing
Continuous Cleansing: - Reduces the need to cleanse wound bed during dressing changes - Reduces disruption of newly forming tissues often caused by manual cleansing - Saves clinician time usually necessary for dressing changes
Configurations: - PolyMem Max non-adhesive pad dressing is designed to function as primary and/or secondary dressings - This configuration comes with a thin film backing found on other PolyMem dressings
Effectively replaces most common categories of dressings, such as: - Traditional foam and silicone dressings - Hydrocolloids - Hydrogels - Gauze - Alginates

How do PolyMem Foam Dressings work?
Provide continuous wound bed cleansing: PolyMem Max membrane contains a mild, nonionic, nontoxic, tissue-friendly cleansing agent that helps maintain a clean wound bed by loosening necrotic tissue, slough and other debris.
Offer impressive wound wicking power: The hydrophilic polyurethane membrane matrix, containing a starch copolymer, draws fluid and debris from the wound bed and swells into a non-adherent gel, which helps reduce the risk of maceration. As the exudate is being absorbed, the membrane matrix expands to fill and conform to wounds.
Encourage wound comfort and improved healing: Additionally, glycerol (also known as glycerin) help ensure non-adherence to the wound bed so that the dressing or filler can be removed without disturbing the wound bed. Glycerol also helps control odor while softening the non-viable tissue.
Provide both a liquid barrier and gas exchange: Except for the cavity filler, the membrane is also covered by a semi-permeable continuous film backing which is optimized for oxygen and moisture vapor permeability and as a barrier to liquids.
How to use PolyMem Max Non-Adhesive Dressings?
Initial Dressing Application:
Prepare the wound according to the protocol or as directed by a physician or other ordering clinician.
Select a PolyMem Max non-adhesive pad dressing so that the membrane is approximately 1/4" - 2" (0.6 – 5 cm) larger than the wound.
Apply the dressing film side out and/or printed side out.
The dramatic increase in wound fluid may be observed during the first few days. This is not uncommon and indicates that the dressing is working. Helpful Hint: Outlining the wound size on the outside of the dressing helps in determining when a dressing change is needed.
Keep the dressing dry and in place when bathing. Change the dressing if it gets wet.
Topical treatments are not recommended in conjunction
Dressing Change:
Change dressings before the wound fluid, visible through the dressing, reaches the wound margin. Change the dressing immediately if the wound fluid reaches the edge of the membrane pad. For mildly exudating wounds in otherwise healthy patients, dressing can be left on for a recommended maximum of seven days. As with other dressings, more frequent changes may be indicated if the patient has a compromised immune system, diabetes, or infection at the wound site.
Gently peel the adhesive film toward the center of the dressing.
Remove the dressing from the wound site. The PolyMem formulated pad will not adhere to the wound bed, usually assuring pain-free dressing changes.
Do not disturb the wound bed. Do not clean the wound bed or flush with saline or water unless the wound is infected or contaminated. PolyMem Max non-adhesive pad dressings contain a wound cleanser and leave no residue. Additional cleaning of the wound may injure regenerating tissue and delay wound healing. The intact skin around the wound may be cleansed while leaving the wound bed undisturbed.

Excellent product . So difficult to find in most medical supplies companies online . The real deal here and the price is exceptional. No more catching the silly standard cotton balls in dressing packs with the plastic forceps . Most critical of all is the safety of not leaving particles of cotton wool on/ in a wound ,acting essentially as a foreign body .
The gauze wrapping around the STERILE cotton balls has a black thread of cotton through it so it is easily located if inadvertently left in a deep wound.
The next much needed essential is the standard everyday dressing packs to have gauze cotton balls that used to be - far less risk of contamination than squeezing sterile cleanser out of silly pieces of flat pieces of gauze . It’s a no brainer !
