DuoDERM® Hydrocolloid Dressings
DuoDERM® is a trusted hydrocolloid dressing range designed to help support moist wound healing, superficial wound protection, and autolytic debridement in suitable wounds.
Commonly used for dry to lightly exuding wounds, DuoDERM® dressings provide a low-profile option for selected pressure injuries, minor burns, abrasions, lacerations, and post-operative wound care.
Why Choose DuoDERM®?
Hydrocolloid Technology
Interacts with wound exudate to form a moist gel-like environment over the wound surface.
Moist Wound Healing
Helps maintain moisture balance in suitable dry to lightly exuding wounds.
Autolytic Debridement Support
May support the body’s natural process of softening and removing devitalised tissue.
Low-Profile Protection
Thin and flexible dressing options for superficial wounds and discreet coverage.
Common DuoDERM® Dressing Uses
Lightly Exuding Wounds
Suitable where moisture balance is needed without high absorbency requirements.
Superficial Pressure Injuries
May be used for selected low-exudate pressure injuries under appropriate clinical guidance.
Minor Burns & Abrasions
Helps protect superficial wounds from friction and external contamination.
Post-Operative Wounds
May be suitable for selected surgical wounds with low drainage levels.
When DuoDERM® May Not Be Suitable
Hydrocolloid dressings are not ideal for every wound. If exudate levels are too high, fluid may collect under the dressing and increase the risk of leakage or peri-wound maceration.
- Moderately to heavily exuding wounds
- Deep cavity wounds requiring packing
- Wounds with uncontrolled fluid burden
- Situations where occlusive dressing use is not clinically appropriate
DuoDERM® vs Foam Dressings
DuoDERM® hydrocolloid dressings are generally used for moisture retention and superficial wound protection. Foam dressings are usually preferred where exudate absorption, cushioning, and fragile skin protection are higher priorities.
DuoDERM® = hydrocolloid moisture balance and low-exudate wound protection.
Foam dressing = fluid absorption and exudate management.
