Mepilex Up is a highly conformable dressing that absorbs both low and high viscous exudates, maintains a moist wound environment and minimises the risk of maceration. The soft silicone layer (Safetac®) is non-adherent to the moist wound site, but adheres gently to the dry peri-wound skin. It protects the wound and skin as well as minimises pain to patients and trauma to wounds and the surrounding skin at dressing removal.

Mepilex Up consists of:

• a soft silicone wound contact layer (Safetac) which is non-adherent
to the moist wound site
• a flexible absorbent pad of compressed polyurethane foam
• an outer polyurethane film which is breathable but waterproof

Dressing material content: Silicone, polyurethane

Indications for use

Mepilex Up is intended for the management of a wide range of exuding wounds in all healing stages such as chronic wounds e.g. leg ulcers, foot ulcers and pressure ulcers, and traumatic wounds e.g. skin tears and secondary healing wound.

Instructions for use

Mepilex Up can be used by lay persons under the supervision of health care professionals.

  1. Cleanse the wound in accordance with clinical practice.
    2. Dry the skin surrounding the wound thoroughly.
    3. Select an appropriate dressing size considering the following: For low exuding
wounds, the dressing should cover the surrounding skin by at least 1 cm for small
wounds and at least 3 cm for large wounds. For moderately to highly exuding wounds,
regardless of wound size, the dressing should cover the surrounding skin by at least
5 cm. The dressing may be cut to suit various wound shapes and locations.
    4. Remove the first release film and apply the adherent side to the wound.
    5. Remove the remaining release film and smooth down the dressing on the skin.
    Do not stretch the dressing.
    6. When necessary, fixate the dressing with a bandage or other fixation.
The dressing change interval may be several days. Change the dressing before it is fully
saturated, at signs of leakage, or as indicated by clinical practice.
Mepilex Up can be used under compression bandaging and in combination with gels.
Disposal should be handled according to local environmental procedures.

Precaution:

Do not use Mepilex Up on patient and/or user with known hypersensitivity to the materials/components of the product.

If you see signs of clinical infection e.g. fever or if the wound or surrounding skin becomes red, warm or swollen, consult a health care professional for appropriate treatment.

Do not reuse. If reused performance of the product may deteriorate, cross contamination may occur.
