Allevyn Tracheostomy Dressing is a combination of Allevyn and a ‘key-hole’ aperture enabling the dressing to fit tidily around a tracheostomy tube or other stoma or drain. This dressing includes a key-hole aperture, a pink, waterproof outer film layer, a highly absorbent hydrocellular central layer, a non-adherent inner layer and a cushioned pad. Allevyn Tracheostomy is comfortable, non-adherent, soft and designed for managing tracheostomy tube associated fluid, secretion or exudate build-up. Allevyn Tracheostomy Dressing is not reusable and can not be used with oxidizing agents including hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide since they can break down the absorbent polyurethane component of the dressing.

Benefits

  • Highly Absorbent: Allevyn Tracheostomy is capable of absorbing large amounts of secretions due to its unique structure. It can prevent the risk of maceration and assist in maintaining the patient's skin's condition in the peristomal area.
  • Easily Applied and Removed: Allevyn Tracheostomy’s key-hole ensures a simplified application and a simple and painless removal without any distress to the patient. It can also be cut to your required shape.
  • Breathable Film: The outer surface of the Allevyn Tracheostomy is made  of a breathable OPSITE film which is capable of precluding leakage of secretions through the front of dressing. This OPSITE film is also a barrier to bacteria and ensures a clean surface.
  • Non-adherent: Allevyn Tracheostomy has an advanced design which lowers adherence to both the peristomal skin and the tracheostomy tube. This will reduce patient trauma during application and removal.
  • Comfortable and soft: Allevyn Tracheostomy has a middle foam layer ensuring your comfort and protection.
  • Attractive Appearance: The clean and functional appearance of Allevyn Tracheostomy Dressing reassures patients and caregivers. The high absorbency leads to fewer dressing changes, and consequently cost-effectiveness and discomfort minimization.

Instructions For Use

  1. Cleanse your wound using normal procedures. Remove excess moisture of the surrounding skin of your wound  in order to clean and prepare it.
  2. Then, you should fit Allevyn Tracheostomy around the stoma or tracheostomy tube. The white, patterned surface of the dressing should be applied toward your neck.
  3. You may cut the dressing to appropriate size, if required.
  4. OPSITE FLEXIGRID Transparent Film Dressing or HUPAFIX Non Woven Adhesive Dressing Sheet can be used to secure the dressing providing additional fixation.
  5. You should inspect the tracheostomy site frequently at the early stages of treatment. The dressing can remain in place undistributed for up to 7 days or until exudate can be seen approaching 3/4" from the dressing edge.
  6. You should remove the retention dressing or bandage and lift the dressing away from the wound in order to remove Allevyn Tracheostomy Dressing.
