Mepilex Border Sacrum is an all-in-one foam dressing proven to minimise patient pain and trauma to the wound and surrounding skin

Features:

  • Made for the sacrum - soft and conformable
  • Prevent pressure ulcers
  • To create an optimal healing environment for moderate to high exuding pressure ulcers, or other wounds in the sacral area such as surgical excision of pilonidal cysts.

Mepilex Border Sacrum effectively absorbs and retains exudate and maintains a moist wound environment. The Safetac layer seals the wound edges, preventing the exudate from leaking onto the surrounding skin which minimises the risk for maceration. The Safetac layer ensures that the dressing can be changed without damaging the wound or surrounding skin or exposing the patient to additional pain.

Benefits:

  • Helps to prevent pressure ulcers
  • Minimises pain and trauma at dressing changes
  • A combination of excellent fluid handling capacity and retention for effective exudate management with less risk of maceration

Can you shower with a Mepilex dressing on?

You can generally shower with a Mepilex dressing on, but caution is advised. Mepilex Border Flex is water-resistant but not completely waterproof. To shower with the dressing on:

  • Keep the wound area covered with a waterproof dressing or bandage.
  • Avoid direct water exposure to the dressing.
  • Pat the dressing dry with a clean towel after showering.
  • Change the dressing if necessary if it becomes wet or soiled.

How often should Mepilex Border Flex be changed?

The frequency of changing a Mepilex Border Flex dressing depends on the wound size, location, exudate amount, and healthcare provider's recommendation. Generally, the dressing should be changed when it becomes saturated with exudate, if the edges begin to lift or separate, or if it becomes contaminated. Mepilex Border Flex can typically remain in place for several days, but regular monitoring is essential to promote proper wound healing.
