Description

KIS® Silicone Contact Layer is an open mesh, soft silicone dressing that allows exudate to pass through to the secondary dressing. This contact layer is designed for the management of dry to heavily exuding wounds. The dressing can also be used in combination with topical treatments/ hydrogels and may be used in conjunction with negative pressure wound therapy.

Tips for using Silicone Contact Layer:
  • Clean the wound in accordance with normal procedure then dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
  • Select an appropriate sized dressing, larger than the wound, to ensure contact with the skin.
  • Remove the releasing liner and apply the adherent side to the wound. Do not stretch. The dressing should overlap the dry surrounding skin by at least 1-2cm.
  • If more than one piece of the dressing is required, overlap the dressing making sure that the holes are not blocked.
  • Apply a secondary dressing.
  • Can be left on wound for up to 7 days.
Silicone Contact Layer
  • Open mesh.
  • Distributes wound exudate fast and evenly.
  • Gentle and secure with reduced pain on removal without stripping epidermal cells.
Release Liners
  • Easy peel-off liner
Indications:
  • Skin tears
  • Pressure injuries
  • Leg and foot ulcers
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Surgical wounds
  • Donor sites
  • Burns (superficial & partial thickness)

The dressing can also be used on dry/necrotic wounds in combination with gels.

Benefits:
  • Sufficient tack for the dressing to remain in place.
  • Conforms to the wound and retains its position.
  • Minimises pain at dressing change or removal.
  • Allows exudate to pass through the mesh easily.
  • Comfortable and hypo-allergenic.
Open mesh enables moderate to high volumes of exudate to pass through into the secondary dressing.
