ALLEVYN™ Foam Dressings
ALLEVYN™ is a trusted foam dressing range designed to support moist wound healing, exudate management, and protection for suitable acute and chronic wounds.
Commonly used for moderate to highly exuding wounds, ALLEVYN™ dressings are often considered where fluid handling, cushioning, showerproof protection, and fragile skin care are important.
Why Choose ALLEVYN™?
Hydrocellular Foam Technology
Designed to absorb exudate away from the wound while helping maintain a moist wound healing environment.
Fluid Management
Helps manage wound fluid and reduce the risk of leakage or peri-wound maceration in suitable wounds.
Gentle Silicone Adhesion
Selected ALLEVYN™ dressings include a silicone adhesive layer suitable for fragile skin and easier removal.
Showerproof Protection
Many ALLEVYN™ dressings feature a breathable top film that helps protect against external fluid and bacterial contamination.
Common ALLEVYN™ Dressing Uses
Pressure Injuries
May be used for selected pressure injuries where exudate control, cushioning, and skin protection are priorities.
Leg Ulcers & Diabetic Foot Ulcers
Often considered for chronic wounds where fluid management and dressing stability are important.
Surgical Wounds & Donor Sites
May support wound protection and exudate handling in selected acute wound situations.
Skin Tears & Burns
Can be considered where gentle contact, protection, and moderate exudate management are needed.
ALLEVYN™ Dressing Options
ALLEVYN™ Gentle Border
A silicone gel adhesive hydrocellular foam dressing designed for exudate management and fragile skin protection.
ALLEVYN™ Life
Designed for comfort, protection, and fluid handling in wounds requiring advanced foam dressing performance.
ALLEVYN™ Non-Adhesive
A foam dressing option for situations where secondary fixation is preferred or adhesive contact is not ideal.
Specialist Shapes
Selected ALLEVYN™ options support challenging wound locations, including sacrum, heel, and tracheostomy areas.
When ALLEVYN™ May Not Be Suitable
Foam dressings are not appropriate for every wound. If the wound is very dry, has minimal exudate, or requires moisture donation rather than absorption, another dressing category may be more suitable.
- Dry wounds needing moisture donation
- Very low exudate superficial wounds
- Deep cavity wounds requiring packing
- Situations where adhesive dressings are not appropriate
- Use with incompatible oxidising agents unless product guidance allows
ALLEVYN™ vs Hydrocolloid Dressings
ALLEVYN™ foam dressings are generally used where exudate absorption, cushioning, and fluid control are priorities. Hydrocolloid dressings are usually used for moisture retention and superficial low-exudate wound protection.
ALLEVYN™ = foam dressing for exudate absorption and fluid management.
Hydrocolloid dressing = moisture balance and low-exudate wound protection.
